Dallas Opera announces 18-19 season – Frizza conducts Verdi


Adding to Riccardo Frizza’s 2018-19 season, Dallas Opera has announced their production of Verdi’s Falstaff, opening in April of 2019. Maestro Frizza takes the podium to lead a stellar cast that includes bass-baritone Mark Delavan as the titular comic knight, Angela Meade as Alice Ford, Quinn Kelsey as Ford, and Stephanie Blythe as Quickly. To round out the production, Mojca Erdmann sings Nanetta, and Airam Hernández performs the role of Fenton.

Falstaff opens on April 26, with additional performances April 28; May 1, and 4, 2019. 

Rehearsals of Il barbiere di Siviglia underway at Paris Opera


Riccardo Frizza conducts Damiano Michieletto’s exciting production of the Rossini masterpiece Il barbiere di Siviglia, opening on January 24 at Opéra Bastille in Paris.

Il barbiere di Siviglia sees soprano Olga Kulchynska as Rosina, René Barbera and Levy Sekgapane as the young Count Almaviva, and Massimo Cavalletti and Florian Sempey alternating the role of Figaro. The production also features performances by Simone Del Savio (Bartolo), Nicolas Testé (Basilio), Pietro Di Bianco (Fiorello), Julie Boulianne (Berta), and Olivier Ayault (officer).

Performances begin on January 24, and return January 27, 30; February 1, 4, 7, 9, 13, and 16.
