San Francisco Opera 2018-19 Season announced: Riccardo Frizza conducts Roberto Devereux


As announced today by San Francisco Opera, Maestro Riccardo Frizza will be conducting Donizetti’s iconic Roberto Devereux from September 8 to 27, 2018. A production of the Canadian Opera Company, Roberto Devereux features Sondra Radvanovsky as Elisabetta, Russell Thomas in the title role, Jamie Barton as Sara, Artur Ruciński as the Duke of Nottingham, and Amitai Pati and Christian Pursell as Lord Cecil and Walter Raleigh.

Frizza takes the baton on September 8, with subsequent performances on September 11, 14, 18, 23, and 27, 2018.

Riccardo Frizza welcomes in the new year in Paris


Riccardo Frizza opens 2018 with a return to the Paris Opera for Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, with a stunning cast, including performances by René Barbera, Simone Del Savio, Olga Kulchynska, Massimo Cavalletti, and Nicholas Testé. Il barbiere di Siviglia runs January 24 to February 16.

Following his turn in Paris, Riccardo revisits Tokyo for two concert performances of Bellini’s Norma on March 17 and 18.

The Italian maestro then leads a powerful production of Verdi’s seldom performed Luisa Miller at the Opernhaus Zurich, which opens on April 12, 2018.
